Wine has been an important part of the Brotte family’s life for two centuries. Mr Amouroux and Mr Clouplet, Laurent and Christine Brotte’s respective forebears, were already working in the vineyards back in 1880, one in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the other in Cairanne. These two winegrowers, who represent the first generation of the Brotte company, planted and then ensured the perennity of the vineyards that would later become part of Domaine Barville and Domaine Grosset.
1880
1931
Maison Brotte was officially created in 1931 when Charles Brotte (2nd generation), freshly graduated from a business school in Marseille, decided to set up his own company in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. “Maison Brotte” began to sell a wide range of Rhône Valley wines and became one of the pioneers in this activity.
1970
Charles’ son, Jean-Pierre Brotte (3rd generation), took over the business in 1970 and developed the export markets. He was one of the first in the Rhône Valley to promote his wines across the Atlantic, in Canada and the United States, as well as in Japan. Thanks to his hard work, our wines are now available in over 100 countries.
2001
Laurent Brotte and his wife Christine took over the family business in 2001. Together, they improved the winemaking methods, developed the vineyards and further enhanced the quality of the wines while building the reputation of the Brotte name around the world. They represent the 4th generation of the family.
2015
2015 saw the arrival of the 5th generation at the domaine: Thibault and Benoît started working alongside their parents and are providing the company with fresh ideas and energy. Today, three generations are working together to develop the Brotte business.
