Domaine Grosset<\/strong>, located in Cairanne, comes from Alain Grosset, Laurent Brotte’s father-in-law. The Grosset family has always been very active in the village\u2019s community and cultural life and contributes to the development of the AOC.<\/p>\n

Located at the foot of the old Proven\u00e7al village of Cairanne<\/strong>, Domaine Grosset covers an area of 27,5 hectares with one hectare of 100-year-old Grenache vines.<\/p>\n

The Domaine has two very different types of soil: grey marl and sand, creating fresh fruit and structure, and sandy clay terraces, creating lovely aromatic power. The hot, dry Mediterranean climate is ideal for the ripening of our terroir’s grape varieties: Grenache, Syrah and Mourv\u00e8dre.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our very carefully controlled yield of 35 hl\/ha, which is lower than the AOC\u2019s 38 hl\/ha, is conducive to concentration.<\/p>\n

The sustainably-worked soils are ploughed during the year. The green work (disbudding, leaf thinning, green pruning) is very thorough in order to reduce the yields and thereby improve the quality. The hand-harvested grapes are transported quickly in small containers to prevent them from crushing too soon and oxidising. At the winery, they are completely destemmed, crushed and fermented at 28\u00b0C, which is then followed by a 3-week maceration. The more tannic Syrah, Mourv\u00e8dre and Grenache wines are aged in French oak barrels (1\/3 new, 1\/3 previously used for one fill, 1\/3 for two fills) and the softer Grenache is aged in concrete tanks, amphorae and 100-year-old oak foudres<\/em> in order to preserve the fruit. The wine is bottled in April after more than a year of ageing and a light filtration.<\/p>\n

This wine typically shows great generosity and harmony<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
